“Thought to share the below with all of you. Canoe apprentice Ryan Olivares is the Wood Shop teacher for both Olomana School, and the Hawai’i Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF). He has the responsibility of repairing and refurbishing a 40+ ft racing koa canoe that had been in a great state of disrepair for four decades. His priority tho’, is his students:

Last week, Olomana students submitted their entries for the 2022 Hawaiʻi’s Woodshow: Na Lāʻau o Hawaiʻi. The gallery will be open to the public free of charge from October 16 to October 30 from 9AM to 5PM at the Hawaii Opera Plaza located at 845 S. Beretania St. This project is led by Ryan Olivares of Olomana School and apprentice FHH kalai wa’a w/Tay Perry and Jay Dowsett, side by side w/Rick Hobson and Loy Kuo.
