On May 7, 2022, the Friends legendary kalai wa`a, Jerry O or Uncle Jerry to a lot of our “young” volunteers, shared stories, pictures, and his report titled “Escorting Hawai`i’s Voyaging Canoes”, Voyages of 1992 & 1995 for na wa’a kaulua, Hokule’a and Hawai’iloa, as well as his narrative on the building of the latter. Both CEOs/Presidents of Bishop Museum and Alaska Native Heritage Center were invited to document the historical value and incorporate knowledge in their cultural exchange programs, especially during the Alaska Trip in 2023. “Uncle Jerry – Living Treasure”, Kauka Mau.
