AK Angoon Ethnomath partnered with Kamehameha Schools and Polynesian Voyaging Society

AK Angoon Ethnomath Visit coordinated by Kathryn Cruz, Camai Heritage Learning Center during the British Columbia/Alaska/Hawaii Symposium at UH, partnered with Kamehameha Schools and Polynesian Voyaging Society.

A wonderful success!!

FHH was asked to be part of the visit by students, leadership, teachers, and guests so they could meet the historical waa kaulua “Hawaiiloa”. The volunteer dry dock crew shared their experiences, knowledge of the native indigenous woods of Hawaii, parts of a double hull canoe, and the time involved in restoring and rebuilding this vessel.   Mahalo to Norman, Brad, Mike, Keli T., Kana, Vance, and Wayne for their kokua that day, especially to Mike and Keli who took the morning off from work. Special mahalo goes to Wayne in assisting a keiki kane interested in fishing off the dock.
