Mahalo to Luana for hosting this event featuring hands-on workshops for canoe lashing, compass navigation, and canoe building/restoration. In addition to our regular demonstrations, she arranged for an interview with Kamea Hadar, artist of I KA WA MA MUA, KA WA MA HOPE mural; a special crafted cocktail by Monkeypod Kitchen inspired by Hadar’s mural; Hawaiian fishing traditions presentation by Umi Kai; music performance by Kawika Kahiapo; voyaging image raffle “The Other Voyaging Canoe” by artist Leohone Magno; and Hookupu ceremony presentation to Kanehunamoku Voyaging Academy.
All proceeds will be donated to The Friends of Hokulea and Hawai`iloa.
